Boasting an inviting, timber-lined interior, the downstairs area has a cosy lounge with wood heater. There’s a large television (for viewing a range of videos and DVDs) and a stereo system complete with CDs. Also downstairs is a well equipped kitchen and rustic, built in dining setting. The bathroom (also downstairs) contains a shower, hand basin and toilet – plus a washing machine and laundry trough for those extended stays.
A beautifully crafted staircase using natural Tasmanian timbers leads to the bedroom on the mezzanine floor. Here you’ll find a comfortable, hand-built, rustic timber double bed (with electric blanket) which, together with the steep, pitched cathedral ceiling, adds to the country atmosphere.
As mentioned, the cabin has a fully equipped kitchen and, upon arrival, you will be provided with supplies for both continental and cooked breakfast, included in the tariff. If you have particular dietary requirements, please let us know beforehand and we’ll do our best to fulfil these.
The entire property has been designated as Habitat and “Land for Wildlife.” Whilst we ask that you do not feed the animals, you are welcome to quietly observe – and photograph if you wish – the padymelons and wallabies being fed daily in the late afternoon. As evening closes in, you may hear ‘visitors’ on the cabin deck. Generally these will be brush-tailed possums – or on rare occasions a spotted tailed quoll. Whilst these furry creatures may look cute, they can bite and scratch so please don’t be tempted to try to touch them.
We are in very close proximity to world-class trout fishing lakes and streams. With Cradle Mountain, forest walks and many towns and tourist attractions close by, the area has so much to offer.
Our stay at the Love Shack was excellent. The shack is warm, cosy and private with everything we needed for our stay. It's in lovely surroundings with wildlife and walking opportunities on the property itself. It's also only a short, pleasant drive from the Cradle Mountain National Park.
The location of this cabin is prefect, the owners of the property are friendly, the wildlife that come to visit each day are awesome, there is a Tassie Barrel fire that more than keeps the cabin warm in winter. If you looking for something a bit different to stay then this is the place, can't wait to return in the future.
We loved it and hope to return. Beautiful location, close to Cradle Mtn, everything you need is there. (Except WiFi, but surely that's why you're on vacation!)
An awesome little cabin, had everything we needed plus more! Super clean, comfortable, warm and cosy, was exactly what we were looking for. Great spot to use as a base to explore Cradle Mt National Park and surrounds. Just wish we had more time!
